Question for you guys

I applied for spousal sponsorship for my husband (from U.S) in March 2013 (see timeline)

Do you think we should request GCMS notes or email CIC asking for an update of our file?

Is there even a point to any of these as it has only been 5-6 months? Would it hinder our application by asking CIC of an update since I know they do not like too many emails?

It's just that I know January and February applicants are being given PPRs...

Well, since the PAFSO strike is still in effect, it has really slowed down the process in a lot of visa offices. I'm not sure but you can check the standard processing time listed on the website for your visa office and if you are still in the normal processing timeframe, they would usually reply with a template that says you are within the normal timeframe blah blah blah so not much of a help there. I suggest that if you still don't get PPR within the end of this month then maybe ordering GCMS notes would be a good idea to let you see what's going on with your application.

Just got my notes today, and only one week late :)
Now to decipher them as EVERYTHING is abreviated.

Anyone know what PPT and FMI mean????
How about TFR???

PPT is certainly Passport.

TFR - I think I read somewhere it's "the final review"

I've never heard of FMI in this context.

Maybe this will help https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MvePamES8FhOJ9fO4Nh8sf0pHhjvOUBTPWTzYdYXwp4/edit?hl=en_US&pli=1

Or this http://caipsnotes.com/Codes.shtml

PPT: Passport
FMI OR FM1? Family 1?
TFR: Transfer

I would request GCMS notes. If there are any issues, it would say in the notes.

PPT - passport
FMI I believe is FM1 = family class principal applicant
TFR - no idea.

Im on the same boat as you, I dont know if I should order it.
I applied in April, so it makes only 5 months.

Argh

I just ordered the GCMS notes online (which was surprisingly very easy and fast to do).

I would say order yours too. It will ease your mind knowing that you will at least get the notes in a month time. Also, it's only $5 so it isn't expensive at all.

Just my two cents :)

Might be a dumb question, but did you attach consent form?

I was ordering the notes on behalf of my husband so yes I had to attach his consent form.

Got a question if my spouse who is a Canadian citizen and sponsor will be the one requesting for the notes does he need to fill out the consent form? or is it me who should be filling out the consent form?

you(principal applicant) need to fill out, print and sign the consent form..have it scanned and send it to your sponsor.. :)
