Should I write in my explanation letter that I want to work in Canada after my study?

Hi there, I am currently working on my study permit application and I get extremely confused about what I should and should not put in my LOE. I have been talking to some Vietnamese international student agents and also did some researches on google. I ran into some contradictions, the vietnamese website and agents told me that I should not show any interests in staying in Canada and after my graduation ( even legally with PGWP). But there are no such instructions like that in English. I understand where they came from, a lot of people stay and work illegally after their visa expires, but this is not the case. I meant the Canadian government has the PGWP policy to encourage international student to Work after their graduation which should not be such a taboo to talk about working in Canada right? What should I mention in my letter? Saying that I will come back to my home country to contribute in the econamy seems very fake.

If you want to write that you wanna work in canada after, be my guest, but, it will show intention to not leave at the end of your studies.

All over the world, 9 out 10 international student never have any intention to go back to their home country. Again, I am not saying you should lie either.

But if you look at past posts where their study permits were denied, not a single one of them mentioned they want to stay and work in Canada. Maybe it's a coincidence?

Well, it all depend what VO is looking for. VO are well trained you don't have to say I will work after graduation they definitely know students will apply for PGWP after graduation. If your profile according to VO looks like there is an intent to stay, then too bad..

Apparently he is thinking it is fake or lying and the reason why other were rejected is because they didn't say they will want to stay and work after graduating.

But then again, if you say that your canadian education will improve your employability and career "when you go back home" wherever that is, in some third world country, obviously you're lying. If you're from some poor region with no employability prospects, earning shit pay, you'll still earn shit pay when you go back. Its not like you're earning $800/month before and after your canadian education, you can find a job in your country that pays $4,000 ~ $5,000/month (which is an average postgraduate salary in canada).

For example, if you have a total of $30k life savings, and it costs $30k for your entire studies in Canada, it doesn't make sense for you to return home with 0 dollars. Having far more money than the "minimum" is a valid evidence to show you have the will and way to return home. Not by writing some elaborate story in your SOP.

This is not correct, they are not simply judging your ability to return home, they are judging how likely you are to return home given your circumstances, if you say you plan to stay you are giving them more ammo to use against your application. No one is saying it is illegal to have dual intent or it will be an automatic rejection, its just you are not giving yourself the best chance.

SOP is not a requirement for study permit, if your case is straight forward and you come from certain countries you can get SP without it.

I would tend to agree with above given the focus should be on why you need to come to Canada to study not work.

If you can apply for the latter once you qualify that would be a bonus but IRCC tend to keep things separate so need convincing first you have a valid purpose to study and the fact that once you graduate your prospects on returning home will improve as a result.

IRCC are not stupid and of course they generally accept that once somone graduates they will likely apply for a PGWP but that should not be implied upfront as the reason or assumption following study in Canada.

Focus on getting the study permit first .
