Hello everyone,

Here's my timeline:

I fullfilled the requirements for my degree on April 15, 2011 and got the letter confirming that on May 2, 2011 and applied for post-graduate work permit.

May 3- September 7 2011 - 4 months of summer employment at the museum, full-time, semi-skilled. I called CIC and they said I could include all these months in my application, but of course what one call centre agent says may not be necessarily true (from my personal experience with them).

I got my post-graduate work permit on July 10.

October 5 2011 - April 2012 -employement at the university, very part-time/casual (it'd give me about 3 weeks total in hours).

December 2 2011- May 14 2012 - employment as a secretary at a small construction company, almost full-time (plus around 4 months towards my goal). Basically so that I'd have something to eat while I'm looking for a job in my field (I'm with a MA in Slavic Languages and Literature, not really practical)

Now (starting May 14) I'm finally offered a full-time (40 hours/w) position in education field, something I'd really like to do but I'm concerned what it's going to look like on my CIC application: I've been constantly changing jobs, getting hours here and there. I have an option to stay with my current employer but it's not a very reliable company, no career prospects, and not in my field at all (selling windows and doors, ugh :()

Thank you.

irrelevant that you are changing fields. For CEC, you either meet the requirements, or you don't. It does not have to be 1 year with the same employer.

So by all means, go for the job you want. Provided, of course, that it is SKILLED.

Thank you very much Jess.

Yes, the new job is Education Coordinator, it definitely qualifies, except for the fact that the salary is low in Alberta standards (18.85 per hour for a start).
It's I just read so many comments on this forum about the little details that are taken into consideration that I decided to double-check if someone has already come across the situation that having multiple odd jobs would seem suspicious and this candidate would seem unreliable to CIC and worth a PR status.
