Many people started their sponsorship process and it was quickly processed. What was their secret? please share your fast process story here! Thanks
Some got through within 4 months, 7 Months and the longest 8months and some unfortunately go through and excruciating wait time of standard processing time or more! We need to know the tricks in this game. Help us reunite with our families. Thanks

This title is VERY MISLEADING. And there is no secret.

You feel so? A friend of mine sponsored her husband and he was approved within four months. She lived in Ghana with him for two years and came back home pregnant with their second child. I am hoping others can share their experiences as to how they were able to get through quicker than others. now I do understand each individual cases are different, but, Im sure other responses will give others hope! I know it will give me hope. Ok I will try to customize the title. I just need to hear others success stories.

Re: ***THE WAIT TIME WAS SHORT*** HERE IS THE SECRET!!!

Oh brother, there is no secret. We don't know what CIC sees and looks for, and there might be no reason other than you get a good case officer.

My suggestions, as our app took 3 months and 21 days, is create a:

1) COMPLETE!!! - This is the most important and the most common reason people have delays. Sign everything, include everything on the checklists, look it over 10 times with your spouse, get someone who's never seen the app to look it over using the checklist. Include all the relevant proof you think you will need, pay for everything upfront.
2) Organized - Use cover pages for each section of your own documentation (not on the IMM's themselves)
3) Succinct - Proof is good, but we know from people's case notes that they will just shred excess chat logs and things like that, so keep it relevant.

That's all we did, BUT everyone is different, the country matters, the people matter, there is no magic formula.

Thank you bunches and I am a wife in need of my hubby hahaha
Your response was fantastic! Thank you for taking the time to give us a little insight of your journey. I followed your steps from A-Z. I made sure to pay everything in full and I also provided them with an additional supportive documentations. I FEEL GREAT! *****THANKS AGAIN****

Agree with above.
I got my visa in 108 days and this is with 20 days of delay thanks to csq.
Didn't split in 3 folders, just followed the checklist's order. It's there for a reason, right?

Surely it depends on the Visa Office processing your application??

Different processing times for different VO's and whether you apply Inland / Outland?

I don't think there's any secret to it, as AquaKitty says, make sure you have fees paid and a complete application.

I don't think there's any secret. AquaKitty's tips may help, but I think a lot more depends on the officer looking at your application. Some probably look it over and if it's all there and nothing seems suspicious, they approve it. Others are probably real sticklers and want to strip down every bit of proof. Also some officers lose pieces of your application and have to ask you to resend things. If your officer goes on vacation or sick leave, your application may just sit on their desk until they get back.

More of the wait time is probably determined by how much the officer cares about their job, how organized they are, and how dedicated :P

Yes. This and the citizenship of the applicant are the biggest factors (assuming a solid application with no red flags).

Well I'm Canadian and my husband is Ghanaian. I don't even know how they track anyones identity with their weird systems. A great example is using your social insurance number to pull vital information on an individual. How do Ghana or Nigeria track their citizens? I guess that could also be a reason for their long processing time.

The passport is the critical document used by CIC to identify applicants. It's why the name on the passport is what CIC considers the applicant's name, even if has been changed (via marriage).

Great point and I can see the validity using passports. After all, it has to be processed by their government.
Thanks

Having a complete application is definitely the key. When CIC has to request a document, the file gets put aside until the bring forward date. Then you also run the risk of CIC misplacing the document you send them.
Other than that, it does seem to be luck.

People who applied in March 2015 through the Ottawa VO were approved and done before a large portion of the September 2014 Ottawa applicants. There isn't any logic here.

Our application was average in terms of time. I applied in September, figuring that everything would be done around May, to allow us to go to Canada at the end of my contract, in June. It was a bit tight due to some delays in getting the application submitted (UPS added several days to that). But it worked out.

We did not submit any chat logs or e-mails. I sent them a few screen shots of our e-mails and the Skype call logs for when we were apart. I think there were 30 pictures included. We had a range of different things for evidence, but not a large amount of any one thing. We've been living together for 3 years, so that probably helped.

Your process was pretty quick! I lived with my husband in Ghana for about 6 months. I sent them old and recent pics of us. I am sure a smart officer who will be processing our papers will see the differences in our pics. wE were young and fresh years ago. And now, lets just say we still look young!.
