Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi all,

Am I even correct in assuming that I use the Buffalo checklist when getting ready to send in my application? Everything gets sent to CIO, correct? Is there a checklist, with details regarding transcripts, letters from employers and how to provide POF for the CIO?

If I can send ONLY a letter from my bank and don't need to send the statements then I can still do this. But where, oh where, do I find this information???

I am becoming more and more confused. I suppose it doesn't help that I have been on this site and Google for about 4 hours now

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply, Honolulu. That relieves me a bit. May I ask, did you have the funds in the account 6 months prior to sending your application? You wrote "It gave the totals under each account I held." Did it include any dates, or just the totals? If I am going to do this I need to do the cash advance ASAP (while I can still get 0% APR until 2012! :) ) I am just really concerned since it doesn't say a letter from the bank OR statements. They seem to want both.

I just went back and saw that your PR was issued (congrats!!)...so they never asked for anything documenting how long the money had been in your account?

Provided I do well on the IELTS (and I should as it is my first nguage) I should be "in"...it will just be a matter of time. Oh yeah, and as long as my NOC is not capped by the time my application gets there!

Also, I understand "you may not borrow this money from a person" to mean an actual human, ie: family or friends as opposed to a bank loan or credit card cash advance type thing. Anyone have any insight on this?

Thoughts or experiences from anyone else?

Thanks!
No dates only totals buddy.
I can't remember any mention of dates in my application package. They only needed evidence that I had the money mentioned in my account.

What is important though is that you maintain the balance you have mentioned in the 12-18 months following the application submission.
You will need he money to land ;D

Also I cannot see any new instructions in the matter on the canadian government web site however.
I am writing thsi based on the assumption that rules have not changed since my submission.
Hope this helps - and thanks for the congrats my friend :D

Hey Honolulu. was this rule of 6 bank statements there before when you applied. At least, I don't remember it when I applied and I only gave one statement as far as I remember.
I ask this because I wonder if it is a new rule.
No Maaties I do not recollect such as rule.
(I think you mean 6 months and not 6 bank staements right? ;D)
Total only as far I remember.
Must say its been a while and I will try take a look at the web site again.

Thanks for the reply, Honolulu. Unfortunately, the rules HAVE changed. :( Took me several hours online and PM'ing someone but I have my answer now and am 100% certain.

As stated in my original post, according to the Buffalo checklist:

SETTLEMENT FUNDS
Refer to the "Proof of Funds" section of our Web site for exact figures and
instructions.
Provide:
• original letter(s) from your bank(s) and/or other financial institution(s) confirming
the type(s) and current balance(s) of the account(s) you hold
• copies of monthly bank statements showing deposits and withdrawals for the 6
months prior to the submission of you application

I was hoping that somehow this was old information.

Back to square 1. I can wait for 6 months but I would imagaine my NOC would be capped by then. :(

Take care.

I should have provided the link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled-mission.asp

Scroll down to Buffalo, open that pdf and scroll down to #11

I took a look at other countries and they have the option to provide any of 3 things as proof of funds. As far as I can see, only the US has to provide BOTH a letter and 6 months of statements. Nice. :(

you know what if buffalo is the only one that asks for both a letter and 6 months of statement, I would just send the one only.

Honolulu is correct that you need to have the money anyway in 12 to 18 months when they get to your application.

I thought of that, Maaties. But I wonder if they would immediately reject it because of all the info not being included? I dunno... :(

I don't make up the rules but I would think the important thing (as you and Honoluiu said) is that the funds stay in the account and are available when landing. Sheesh, what is up with needing to have it in there for 6 months? Bleh, just feeling really down about it. I just got a new job and while I am thankful to have it, it isn't something I can handle doing long term. My daily thoughts have been that "It is just temporary until I get my PR!" And that helps me get through.

This is just my thoughts and of course, based on my situation and not yours.
If i had ordered the PCCs, etc and the only thing is outstanding is IELTS, I would just apply anyway. So the only cost from this point would be the IELTS.
If they reject it, guess what, I can use the same IELTS for applying next year. That is if you want to apply next year anyway.

The reason why they ask for 6months, they fear people who don't actually have the money, borrowing from their parents or something, and then applying, taking the money to canada and then returning the money. It is just a way to ensure that people have the money. I know, there are still ways to come around the 6 month rule too.

Thanks for your thoughts, M.

Can you clarify your last sentence? Not sure I understood. Could just be that I am tired. Thanks. :)
