Settlement Agencies

I have contacted numerous settlement agencies in Calgary and Toronto and none of them respond. How do i actually get to speak to them or will they only interact with you once you have landed?

A lot of the settlement agency people are volunteers, so it might make some time. Best suggestion is to get a phone number and call them.

Best to walk into their offices. They will register you, put you on file to show government that they are working and have so so number of clients. They will give you loads of information and directions. Some offer free language training and citizenship exam classes. Some offer free furniture and clothing. Some will refer you to where you can access subsidized or free bus tickets and recreation services.
None will give you what you really need-a job or a certificate course that will lead you to getting a job. For these, no help at all. So keep the same smile on your face as you leave their offices, as when you walked in.
