Just got off the phone CIC in Mississauga. I have no way of contacting the CIC office in Ottawa apparently it is only by email. They were no help! In Sept they requested our actual marriage cert and I mailed it. We were notified by a letter stating that my spouse was approved and our case sent to Ottawa. I sent in my police certificate in with in and just want to make sure its with my file! Also wanting to change my address because I have visitor status until March 31,2015 and I am in Canada but I moved my stuff in storage and don't know if I should change my address to my parents house or here in Canada.

I am a RN and the College of Nurses of Ontario can't grant me a license until I get a status in Canada. Very frustrating and do not want to go through more money and process to get the hospital to give me a letter for work then wait even more when I can just go back to the States and work and not to mention more money.

Super frustrating and I am sick of the CIC poor attitudes. They said since the file was sent to Ottawa she can't see anything..Is this true?

That is correct. Once the file is transfered to an overseas (ie outland) VO, the call centre cannot get any further details.

Hii September Applicants, i have a question, After you get SA, all the communication with the sponsored person including the request for passport is by e-mail? or they sent letter to his/her house even if the sponsored person put an e-mail?
Thanks :)

In theory, by e-mail, but some VOs send letters by mail, even if all the other correspondence was sent by e-mail. It's CIC...

No ECAS just says "Application received" "Medicals Received" ... or "In Process" ... "decision made" etc..

Specifics about what you need to send in will be emailed to you or sent via a letter in the mail.

I emailed Ottawa (changed my address to our Canadian Address) and received a response in 7 days. Someone else received a response in 5 hours. Why don't you try emailing them your questions and hopefully you will get an answer back soon. Best of luck.

I called to try and change the mailing address for my wife as she is here with me as a visitor, and the agent sent me a mail with some links with three different ways to do it but it didn't work for us, guess she needs her UCI? :-\

If your application currently has a mailing address NOT in Canada you cannot change the address online. You have to email Ottawa VO (or which ever Visa Office your application is at)

All I did was send Ottawa an email { to: CPC-CTD-Ottawa @ cic.gc.ca } from my email account. I included the following:

Subject: Mailing Address Change

Body:

Application Type: Sponsorship Spousal Outside Canada

Jane Smith (Principal applicant)
Country of Birth: United States of America
DOB: Month Date Year
File No: F000123456

John Smith (Sponsor)
Country of Birth: Canada
UCI #: 12345678
DOB: Month Date Year

To Whom It May Concern:

I am currently visiting Canada and would like to update my mailing address.

New Mailing Address:

12345 smith Lane
Ottawa ON N0N N0N

Thank You,

Jane Smith (Principal Applicant)

They responded back to me in 7 days confirming the change was done.

Thank you Maria! She hasn't received a file or UCI number for herself yet but I have so maybe we we'll use that in the way you showed and see from there 8)

If you received a letter with your Sponsor approval the File number is at the top.

The UCI # belongs to you

The Application # belongs to her application.

It worked for me and all we have from CIC is the letter they emailed my husband telling him he was approved as a sponsor.

Thank you :) We will give it a go and report back when we hear from them 8)

Good Luck :)

My partner just landed! We went to Niagara Falls borders , had to walk to US side got paper (refused entry) signed COPR and that was it! We only needed passports to show. They didn't ask about his current status. He got PR before visitor extension!! LOL
He got condition 51 but we expected it. We are so happy it was incredibly fast we feel so lucky!!
Good luck to all we wish you easy and speedy process!! Hang in there it's all worth it!!!

Merry Christmas!
