*******Hello Everyone,

I finally got a response back via email that my FBI clearance was located in my file. I can't believe it! I finally got an answer! Anyways, they also added this :

"Your application is being processed as per our regulatory timeline.

Please note that we cannot confirm when your file will be ready for finalization.

We do not require any information from you at the present time. An officer will contact you if further information is required. Please ensure when submitting documents that they are still valid and will not expire within 6 months as this could delay your application."

OK SO FIRST QUESTION: Does FBI checks expire?
My medicals were done in August, SHOULD I go ahead and schedule for new ones?
No. Read the e-mail. They are referring to if you are asked to resubmit documents (such as a medical) the docs should be valid for the next 6 months.

That is what I mean (medical) will expire in August which is FOUR months. I never inquired about anything expiring, only if they ever received my police check because it was sent separately.

For future reference I READ EVERYTHING! I ask questions on here like everyone else for clarity. YOUR remarks have been demeaning and if you see any posts from me..DO NOT REPLY ANDREW-BRIT! HAVE A GREAT DAY

erm...

you are not reading what Andrew Britt wrote.

If you *need* to resubmit your medical (or submit any other documents) **After they are requested** ensure that that those documents are not due to expire in six months. Because you have not been asked for a new medical that section IMO (to my reading comprehension) would not apply.

*Should* they request a new medical, be certain that your new medical is valid for 6+ months.

As an aside, your remarks to AB were uncalled for. He is not paid to reply here, and he is offering advice for free. If you can't look past his style of typing and accept that he has helped you, I would suggest that, that is more your issue than his.

Mandy please do not shout at me. Writing in caps on the Internet means you are shouting.

I was simply pointing out that the e-mail from CIC stated clearly that if in future you submit documents you have to make sure they are still valid and will not expire within 6 months. I assume when you sent in your application that your medical had an expiry date of more than 6 months in the future?

I am sorry if you found my remarks demeaning, that was not my intention. However I will reply to future posts from you if I feel I can contribute to your concern as that is what I am here for, to help others.

No, do not schedule for a medical. If your medical is due to expire before they finish your application, they will often extend it. If they need another medical from you, they will ask for it. The e-mail is simply stating that, an officer will email you if they require further documents. They are saying that *if* they request additional documents, make sure you submit them while they are valid. They could at any point ask for more relationship evidence, or what have you.

To answer your first question, FBI checks expire in 3 months. In other words, CIC needs to have *received* your FBI check within 3 months of issuance to be considered valid.

I believe I am in the same boat as you - I mailed off my FBI check after SA. I am missing your previous posts, but the tone of your most recent one seems to allude you were frustrated and waiting a long time to find out if your FBI check was attached to your file?

I used Fedex so I had tracking and saw it was received, and then when I ordered my GCMS notes I saw they had attached it to my file. Did you order your GCMS notes? Did it not say the police clearance was attached? :(

Glad you got your answer, regardless!

I have been waiting awhile. I was told by a CIC officer whom I know personally that deal with business not family class and he said to wait until I had AOR.That way I would have a file or UIC. Since I never official received AOR, I was still trying to find out if the FBI check should be redone if it was lost (sometimes this happens with mail even though tracking said it was received). I had sent it off and it was only a day or two later SA came in the mail and my file was transferred to Ottawa from Miss.

GCMS note? I was not aware I could do that. I just read up on it on the immigration site. I will have to research this topic more.

GCMS notes can be quite enlightening. They show such things as when they received your app. when the VO requested documents, if and when those documents were received by them. It shows requests made from the VO to outside 3rd party sources and when the response was from those sources. It could also give you insight to what is happening with your app right from the VO's comments on the file if there is any. They show when certain sections of the process were started and or completed.

Some people find the notes a waste of time, I found them interesting and gave a little bit of piece of mind when going through the process.

Chris.

It's been awhile since I've posted but I do read everything. I am really anxious about what's going on with my application. We had a hiccup while waiting for SA so now I worry about something else getting mis-filed or lost.
Can you walk me through the steps to get the GCMS notes? I know there's two ways. I remember reading someone got them with no cost somehow. I'm currently a visitor in Canada if that makes any difference.

They will most likely ask you to fill out the consent form when they review the request. This is the video I used when I first was learning how to order them. The info at the bottom of the video has all the needed links.

I have seen a lot of the July / Aug applicants are hearing something so we should be next! Good luck everyone.

thank you for the step by step! One question so far. It asks when filling out the sponsor info if you're requesting information on your own behalf? If I say yes do I still have to submit the consent form? Or would saying yes not give me notes on the principal applicant and only the sponsor?

Btw, I'm the principal applicant. My husband is the sponsor. I'm just filling it out for him ;)

Yes, if you want details on the principal applicant side then you need to say you are requesting info for someone else.

I believe you do not need to provide a consent form if you are asking for your own info but I have never done that as I am the applicant.
