As far as I know you cannot be in Canada continuously for the period more than 4 years as a temporary worker. Logically - WPs should not be issues once you are past 4 year mark. This rule has been around for a while.
yea Ive read that and ive also read on the same page where it said Workers with a PR application in process are exempt from this rule.. this has been around for years now.
But this new I just pasted was for today ... would this effect anything at all for a person whos file is in process ?

I doubt that - he is not referring to BOWP in particular but talking about 4 years in general and how it is enough to put something together in terms of PR
so if it says PR in process are exempt - than it is exempt. This release never said otherwise, so you should stop panicking?

Just for my confirmation:
Is the rule about 4 years as a worker or 4 years in general (student+worker)?

Hi friends,
I have received this email from CIC on 30-Mar-2015.

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following document:

FOR YOUR SPOUSE AND ANY OTHER DEPENDENTS OVER THE AGE OF 18;

Ø Police Certificate: A certified RCMP criminal record check based on fingerprints.
Please consult ....... for detailed instructions.

Q1: Does this mean that I only need to submit the RCMP for my spouce but not for myself? OR is it safe if I submit for my spouce and myself?

Q2: When the email showed up in my gmail, there is a big blank box between "the following document" and "FOR YOUR SPOUSE ", did I miss something in the box? what does it look like in ur email?

In my case it was for me only even though I did it for my spouse too, why to take chances. Do it for yourself & spouse too.

Thnaks a lot. Can you please guide on the steps how to get the finger prints work done? I live in Chandigarh (India) . Please correct (as applicable) my below understanding:
1. Go to local police station and get the finger prints in front of them and certified from local police.
2. Find a Canadaian RCMP accrediated agency and submit this to them to convert these to electronic finger prints and they will submit to RCMP. I searched on internet and XL-Id charges 120 CAD (certificate) plus 75 (courier)
3. Once done they will mail back the certificate to you.
4. Submit this certificate to CIC.

If someone is using an agent or lawyer, would CIC send the rcmp request to the agent/lawyer or to applicant's email address ?
YES.. My RCMP request email was sent to my agent although it is addressed to me. They won't send emails to both. Also, it is not for everyone but random.

Hi All,

Is RCMP check is only for principal applicant or all persons on the application?

Regards,
Harsha
For all persons on the application above 18 years. It should be also mentioned in their email letter.

For Outside Canada Candidates (e.g. India) , how to take fingerprints (so that these are clear and no rejection happens) to send to RCMP-Accredited companies for electronic fingerprint submission?

Also do we need any local police (India) verification also for fingerprints apart from PCC?

AJMJ,

Click on http://www.fbifingerprinting.in/ link and yes you will need local police clearance certificate too ! !

Hope this find it useful to you.

Thanks for the reply Chokra. I called CIC and they mentioned that if they have not mentioned anything about other applicants in the mail, then only the principal applicant is being requested for RCMP check.

Harsha

Any feedback about this Agency ?

hXXp://canadianlegal.org/calgary-fingerprinting/ink-to-digital-conversion/
I had done RCMP fingerprint from Fingerplus & experience was worse, that guy named ERIC forget to take my consent (you need to do with your right thump impression) before sending all fingerprint to RCMP, this was critical mistake & next day I had to again go for the process.

Don't do it from Fingerplus @ Calgary location, rest no idea.

he charged me $75 bucks that was too costly as compare to $50-60. I preferred this location since it was near to LRT station & with 4 month small kid I didn't want to explore much in chilly weather.
