Oh, and happy 2012 everyone! May it bring lots of good news in the form of PPR's, waived interviews and landing stories!

That's strange, when I called the CIC info line and asked about it, they said I didn't need a birth certificate because it was a spousal application, therefore the relationship I had to prove was the one to my spouse, which is of course not in the birth certificate. Misinformed again it seems... I think I will get a request for a birth certificate too then...

They will ask you indigo. I looked it up, and it is in the checklist :( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3901e.pdf
If you still have your dutch DIGID, you can login into it, submit, pay and let it send to you (you can give a adress where they will send it).

They are asking you birth certificate to know whether you are a "legal adult"

Oh no. We didn't include my husband's (applicant) because we provided other forms of identification (Dutch residence card, Venezuelan national identity card, passport) and since it uses "or" we thought it was optional as long as you submit others.

Provide national identity cards, birth certificates, baptismal certificates or other official document confirming relationship for you and each of your family members

I guess we should get moving with translating his Birth Certificate to have it ready when they ask for it :(

You dont have to let it translate, on the moment you ask for it in the Netehrlands, you have 2 options. For international use, or regular.
When you say international, you wil get a international version, and its already translated.

I was thinking the same, but they asked for it. :(

Well, my husband is Venezuelan, so we have to get it translated from Spanish to English.

Thanks for the heads up.
