Applied for PR Card renewal Sept 15th 2017, wanted to get this done before I went and applied for citizenship (whenever the new law takes effect) because I think the citizenship applications could take roughly a year to process or maybe more.

Please post your timelines if you have applied in Sept. so we can get a better idea on how long the process could take.

Thanks!

I just herd of this Bill C6 and the changes it will be bringing in. My PR card expires next year, but under the new rules I will now be qualified to apply for citizenship. Should I renew my PR card now? Does it have to be valid/active in order to get my citizenship (assuming it was active/valid when I applied for citizenship)?

Hi MisterDBarton, My PR Card also expires next year i.e. after 5 months, my reason for renewing the PR card was so that when I file for the citizenship, I will still be able to travel/vacations if needed, as citizenship application could possibly take up to a year to finalize, I don't think there is a requirement of having a valid PR card for citizenship application.

I have applied for PR card on 7th September 2017, no news yet. I have applied on urgent basis with a confirmed air ticket.

Though this bill is approved but not yet implemented by CIC if I am not wrong.

Hi everyone,
I have applied for PR renewal and Cic received my application on 15th Sep, 2017 (I know this because of tracking through Canada post). My card expires on march 28th, 2018. I have not received any AOR yet. Just sharing this with everyone here so that we can track progress and time lines.

My timeline for PR card renewal: Sent: July 26th, Received: Sept 26th, AOR: Sept 27th, In Process: Sept 27th. PR card sent by mail: Oct 4th.
