Hi Team,

I am seeking clarification on how to calculate the 12-month Canadian work experience requirement for the Senior Manager category, specifically regarding frequent travel outside Canada.

Here is my current situation:
  • I have been employed as a Senior Manager by a Canadian company for 15 consecutive months.
  • I am on the Canadian payroll, working 40 hours per week.
  • Due to the global nature of my role, I have made several business trips outside Canada during this time, including one 4-week personal vacation.
Could you please educate me on the following?
  1. Calculating the 12-month requirement: How do trips outside Canada affect the calculation of the 12-month period, even if I was working for a Canadian company while abroad?
  2. Hours vs. Months: IRCC guidelines require either 12 months or 1,560 hours. Given my situation, how do I accurately calculate if I have met this requirement?
Thank you in advance for your guidance.

And be careful with a Senior Manager NOC, it's not only about your job title, it's about your duties, salary, employer, etc.
