Hello!

I'm in Canada as a Tourist and I've applied for Residency with my common-law partner.

I'm working for a German company that requires me to supply a Social Insurance Number or Business Number.

How can I get a SIN or Business Number and is that even possible as a Tourist or do I need a certain visa for that?

Thanks,
Till

If the company is demanding one of those identifiers, you almost certainly require an Open Work Permit, which you probably are not eligible for. As a tourist, you may not work in Canada in any way that interferes with the Canadian labour market. So, no Canadian income and no Canadian clients.

Okay, so all I have to do is apply for an Open Work Permit?
Sure, IF you are eligible..
