Hello everyone!!
Great forum. Quick question, if after successfully getting to Canada on following self employed route is it ok to work full time paid to supplement your self employed income initially? I am a musician and a fiddle tutor specialising in the Scottish Traditional style. My plan would be to set up a traditional fiddle school focusing on the Scottish traditional. As you would understand it may take a wee bit of time building up the database so is supplementing the income with a paid job in the sense of working for someone else alongside building up the business allowed or does the self employed visa not allow this?
Thanks in advance!

I would think once you have landed...you can do whatever you wish, work for yourself or for someone else. Nothing says you have to tell IRCC after you have landed and your COPR has been stamped. Just my 2 cents.

There's no limitation... but you're not supposed to do it this way. :)

I have forms IMM008, IMM008DEP, IMM5669 filled in so far. Think thats the easy part!
Would also be interested in peoples opinions on immigration lawyers. I think I like the thought of having that support and advice backup. I would be interested in costs involved for such a service going down the self employed route.

We used Campbell and Cohen (the firm that owns this here forum). It was, all in, about $5000 for the lawyer alone. That does not include application fees, etc. That was just for the lawyer.

Dear Jaun
Can you explain please (After the officer had sent you an e-mail saying that he is not convinced that you are a self employed person). You were about to hire a consultant or lawyer in order to help you address it. What happened next? Did you reply to the officer?and then he asked for a business plan or you are still preparing you reply? Did you make an interview?
