Secondary school admission and promotion

Hello,

My daughter will be 12 years old by January 2018 but we intend to move to Canada via express entry in February 2018. By their age placing, she should be placed in Grade 7 ( Age 12-13). My question now is - will she be allowed to move to the next class (Grade 8) the following session which will be September of same year? I am asking because she would have spent only 4 months in Grade 7 and also she will still be within 12-13 range though by second term of the new session, she would have grown to the 13-14 age bracket.

Kindly help shed light on this.

You need to talk to the school or school board. They would be making the decision.

Yes your child will progress to grade 8 as long as she is keeping pace with her other classmates. She should be studying elsewhere before arriving in Canada.
