Will depend largely on your budget and where you can find a rental because the vacancy rate is pretty low. Also depends on whether you want English or French immersion and whether you get selected for one of the French immersion spots. Much better to focus on planning on living close to jobs for you and your wife or you could end up commuting for hours in the morning and evening. You also need to be looking at transportation options. You may have to live near a GO station or somewhere close to the end of the subway.

Elementary school rankings are overrated. All schools under the public school or catholic school boards are required to meet certain requirements and your kids will be well taken care of regardless of school. I do agree that due to location and other factors there may be some difference, but as newcomers I think your focus should be on how to make it easy for you in terms of finding employment and easier commute, and better value for the rent you are paying per month. The other important thing I would suggest is, if both parents will be working, to make sure the school has before and after school programs within the same facility.

I also live in Mississauga and when we moved here two years ago, choosing a school was not really a factor considering how difficult it was to secure a house as a newcomer without employment and credit.
