Someone else told me they start counting as soon as the application arrives in São Paulo (Stage 2).

And when you don't pay the Permanent Resident fee in advance, it adds a few months to the process. Did you hire a lawyer to organize your application? Do you think your application had any red flags?

We had a laywer do everything. the process went in complete with nothing missing. She told us we should only pay the RFPR when they asked for it. I know they have the payment because they sent me an email. this is what they sent me on March 26, 2014.

Yes, Mississauga has confirmed that the RPRF payment has been received at their end.

We are currently waiting for the results of the new medical exams, which are being reviewed by our medical centre. Please note that medical results are valid for 1 year, and that is the reason why he had been asked to undergo them again. Once the medical exams are approved by the medical centre, we would be ready to request the passport and make a decision on this case.

i called the lawyer and she said that the medical resuts go to trinada and tabago and i just need to wait! i think the lawyer is an idiot because she was paid in full and just seems like she doesn't care to answer my questions.

I'm sorry but on CIC's official website, they strongly recommend us to pay for that fee in advance, so unless your lawyer didn't care to read the guide, I'm not sure if they're to be trusted.
Because even if you couldn't afford to pay right away, CIC offers loans to help you out.

If only you had found this forum earlier... Honestly, the senior members in here are more educated and helpful on the subject, considering they've been through the same process, they're always willing to give advices, unlike your lawyer. :-[

But I'm afraid there's not much to do now to speed up the process, but you're close to the end of this journey.

Please be advised that we have received the new medical results, and we are ready to proceed towards finalizing this case. Kindly advise applicant to forward us his valid passport

The permanent resident visa has the same validity period as the medical results, that is, 12 months from the date of the first examination, or according to the validity of the applicant's passport or any accompanying family member’s passport, whichever is the earliest.

When forwarding the passport, please attach a letter confirming to which address we should send the passport to. If this address is not in Brazil, please be advised that this Consulate cannot cover the costs of sending a passport abroad. In that case, if you or applicant have a courrier account, kindly inform us the number, so that we can forward the passports to the mailing address, collect.

Congratulations! That's your husband's PPR. Give them a few weeks to 1 month and he'll be able to land.

Also, you could use FedEx in case you're in a hurry and want to track his passport.

Thanks but now I am worried because I have been calling my husband all day and no one answers the phone!!! I don't know what to do. The longer he waits to send the passport the longer it takes to get it back.

Do we need to send a pre paid envelope when send the the passport? the pre paid envelope for them to send it back to us, or will they just send it back?

Assuming your husband's in Brazil, I don't think it's necessary. They'll send it back to him through normal mail.

Sometimes they don't even send AORs, sometimes they send Sponsorship Approval a couple days after AOR.
I had to wait for 34 days! But that was during the holidays. I know how lost it makes us feel. :-[
