What is the trend for the amount of time it is taking for SA to be received, and does the SA typically happen before request is made for Police Certificate/Sched. A and Passport Request?

I saw your post in the other thread. If you have already gotten PPR, then you got SA months ago. You can log into ECAS with your sponsor's details just to double check that it says "decision made" under the sponsor name. Since you have received PPR, it will likely say "decision made" for both the sponsor and principal applicant.

That's what's confusing me. my sponsor's ECAS is showing "In Process" then when I click on that to see details, it hasn't been updated since they sent out the request for the Schedule A/PCC back in September.

What about your (PA) status? Does that say in process or decision made?

Mine says "Application Received" and just lists the date that it was received.

Okay, hmm. So now I'm wondering if what you got was truly a passport request (PPR) or if it was just a request for a new/updated scan of your passport. How was the request phrased?

For example, I just received my PPR a few weeks ago and the letter began like this:
"Dear (applicant),
The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete. You must complete the
following steps within 30 days in order for our office to issue your Confirmation of Permanent Residence and, if
applicable, permanent residence visa."

Of course, there is always the off chance that something glitchy is going on with your ECAS, but it's unlikely.

my husband has the letter, but it said something to the effect of "We need a copy of your passport and your dependents passports to continue processing your application" and it gave a date that it had to be submitted by.

Did this letter also request new photos (two photos of you and your dependents like you submitted with the initial application)? If not, unfortunately this is not PPR. So that would explain the confusion as to why you received that but your app is not approved yet.

I know they sometimes request updated passports during the application process but I am not sure why

hmm. no, they didn't request new photos. That's odd that they would require photos be included with the application and then request new photos after just 6 months. I think I'll request my GCMS case notes and see what's up.

The photos that are included with your app are a formality to confirm what you look like, whereas the photos that are submitted with PPR are the ones they actually put on your PR card. :)

Yeah, I'd definitely request your GCMS notes. It is very unusual that you have not yet received SA. Hopefully the notes might reveal what is going on.
