When you come to Canada you have to go in the Visitor's side of Passport Control. When you tell the officer you are "landing" they will send you to another office right behind the Passport Control counters and then another officer will have you sign the COPR paper and ask you some questions (how you met your sponsor, if you understand condition 51, etc) and then if the Service Canada office is open you can go straight there to get your SIN number. If not, you take those papers and walk out. You need that COPR document FOREVER so don't get rid of it. You need for your SIN for your passport, for your free ESL classes, etc.

It's really painless! Don't worry!

Thank you canadian belle for the info :) It seems easy ;)

Just got Request for Passport. This is great. Glad that everything was done in less than 6 months. Good luck to everyone.

Congrats!

We just got the request for the passport. I am so surprised because Ecas never said in process! We are so happy because we've been living apart for a bit since I've been in school.

@panos30 I truly hope that they tell you something about your interview date very soon.

Hi MarVan! I m so excited...i ll fly in two days and i cant wait ;) Regarding your question i think it is normal so don't worry about it...if we see others timeline i can say that your app is being processed pretty fast...soon you ll receive PPR :)

Marco, I think the average time for "in process" is at least 5 weeks so you might hear something really soon. Your app is going really fast! In bocca al' lupo! :)

Orchidea, have a safe trip! I can imagine how excited you are! Last week we had amazing weather here, this week is raining :( in Toronto but you are coming on time for Halloween! good luck!

Panos, did you try to contact them or order notes to find out more?

I didn't reorder notes because I don't believe I will find out something more. Even in the first notes I received I didn't find something special, only an interview is required without personal notes from the VO. However, I sent an e mail to the embassy to ask about the status of my app. and they answered on September 25 that to continue the processing of my app. an interview is required and they told me that detailed information will follow shortly, but still nothing :(

Does anyone want to take over the spreadsheet? I haven't had a lot of time lately to update it. I can add you to the google document, so you can just add on to the one I have been using.

Just to let anyone who may be considering submitting their passport in person know, I emailed Rome over the weekend asking if my husband could submit his passport on Tuesday and possibly get the COPR/visa by this Friday. They answered me on Monday saying that he could do this, they just of course cannot guarantee that it will be ready by then. So he is on his way to Rome now to submit it when they open. Unfortunately the embassy is closed on Friday so hopefully it will be done in time, or else we'll have to purchase another flight.

I hope you hear something soon. My original application was 3.3 pounds and I sent additional proof two times (the last one along with an address change), and it doesn't seem like it delayed my application very much compared to Orchidea's, who submitted the same day. If you have any additional proof of your genuine relationship maybe you should consider sending it to them along with a more recent short essay about your relationship. Even though they have already decided on an interview it may help you in some way.
