Hello.
I have been married for over two years to a Romanian woman and we have a 2 year old son. I am a Canadian born citizen and I have aready received the citizenship card for my son.
Looking at the forms they look like they are more for an immigrant bringing family members to Canada. Is there a website I can visit to get better information.
I currently live in Romania and work on ships. I would like to start the process before I return to Canada if possible. This would be better for me as once I move back to canada I will leave thse ships and stay in Canada permanently.
Can I start the process here in Romania?
Thanks for ay help that can be offered.

Try the website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

And yes, you can start the application process while in Romania. You don't need to sponsor your son, because he is a Canadian citizen already.

The forms you need are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp Those are generic forms to sponsor any kind of family member but they will also work for your wife.

As a Canadian citizen, you do not have to be living in Canada to sponsor your wife but you do have to send them some plans of moving to Canada once your wife gets her PR. At least where you plan to live and work but better if you have a job offer, acceptance to college, have arranged housing or at least a statement from one of your family offering you a place to stay.
