Hello All,

I come to Canada on WP 3 years back. I am working in IT as a software developer and had all documents with me for CEC class except for role and responsibility latter from employer.

My employer does not issue that latter because of company policy. However they are ready to give employment letter which would
state i am working in their company and my salary (not much details however).

I am thinking to include self declared role and responsibility letter with all pay stubs. Is that would be sufficient?

Or do I had to file my application with lawyer?
I had also consulted one law firm and they are asking large sum of money(CAD 2200+) to represent me? Is that amount is worthwhile?

Please suggest way around for this.

Thanks.

Hi Abhi_theone,

Did you finally send your application with the employment reference letter you mentioned (without roles and responsibilities)?.. I am curious to know whether you faced any problems after lodging your application..

thanks,
Shalini.

I used a lawyer. After spending all this time (7 years) in Canada and all this money. 2000$ is not much to make sure you have a better chance at getting PR and citizenship. Any small mistake can delay your application for months or even years and then you lose status in Canada. I know a few people that made tiny mistakes and are having problems. Lawyers make sure your file has all pertinent information and all filed correctly all while guiding you through the process. I also think that having a certified lawyer makes sure the government can not throw you curve balls as the lawyers know the laws inside and out while many applicants probably don't. I say if you can afford it, pay it. I used Campbell Cohen. They charge around $2,000 for cec an you don't have to pay it all up front. You pay every 90 days. Also I think they setup this forum.
