Hello everyone... I just want help from you guys... I am a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines and I am currently processing my application for live in caregiver. I don't have any caregiver experience but I have a lot of hospital exposure during my OJT days. I am currently working as a call center agent for almost 5years now. Thus, being the eldest and breadwinner of my family, eversince my dad abondoned us, I'm force to work as a call center agent that pays high here in our country so that to support my family financially. I have direct employer from British Comlumbia'and she's Filipino a good friend of mine. I am currently reviewing for IELTS under general training module as per embassy's advice. I have questions with regards to my status:
1. Will my OJT experiences being a student nurse be counted or considered as care-giver experience?
2. What would be the average score required for IELTS GT?
3. Im not really sure if I still need to have caregiver experience for the embassy to approve my application since I am already a nurse.
4. What are the possible questions during embassy interview?

*PLease I am in a dilemna right now... :(

When did you finish school? How long ago? How long ago did you obtain the nursing work experience? Was the work experience full time for at least one full year and paid?

no I don't have any nursing job experience, after I graduated last march 2009, I work as call center agent right away. and took the board exam on dec 2012 and pass the exam in 1 take... though still failed to volunteer as a nurse since I have a cousin that ahs cerebral palsy and she was left by my aunt to us. Since then, I'm the one whó's supporting her not only finacially buts well as providing special care, nursing her due to her condition, since I am the only nurse in the family.

Based on the information you've provided, you don't qualify to apply for a live in caregiver work permit. To qualify to apply, you must have either at least six months of full time related studies in the last three years - OR one year of full time paid and related work experience in the last three years.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/caregiver/apply-who.asp

You don't have one year of full time paid work experience as a nurse. So that's out.

And is looks like you completed your classes more than three years ago (i.e. you don't have six months of full time schooling in the last three years).

So again - unfortunately I don't think you qualify.

hello scylla thank you so much for your immediate response. Where supposedly will I count past 3 years experience? by the time I receive the LMO and signed the contract or the the last chance that I will submit my complete and final requirements?

Three years back from the day you submit your work permit application. Read through the information in the link I provided earlier. Your questions are answered there.

You'll also have to learn to be patient if you want people here to reply. Sometimes it takes a few hours or even a few days to get a reply to a question. If you don't want to wait, then I would recommend that you hire an immigration consultant or lawyer.

Hello scylla... I really appreciate you taking time answering my concerns... :) I notify my employer right away about what you have mentioned and his Canadian husband told me that I'm still eligible since I applied for a work permit last 2011 so my OJT experiences as student nurse might still be considered?... Hoping for you response. Thank you so much

Was your OJT experience paid? Do you have at least one year full time of this experience?

per feedback i have read in this forum and from other RNs who did not have any work experience, it is really important to have had classroom training for live-in caregiver for at least six months or PAID work experience of at least one year...do some research on the link referred to you by Scylla... :)
