Right address

Please help us on this.....this is just the last minute confirmation ....we are applying outland so is this where we mail our application or is there a different address.

The guide says the above address but somewhere in the forum people did discuss about a address in Ottawa. Just want to get things right. The whole process is making us go crazy...have to think many times on almost everything. Many thanks in advace

Good luck for the process - and soon welcome to the waiting game! make sure that you trace your application (recommended or tracking number) it will spare you the anxiety of not knowing if CIC got your application etc.

Thanks Sweden. You have been a great help to me so far and I really appreciate that. I have one more thing going on in my head which has already given me two migraine attacks this week. Sounds funny but it is a big pain. Anyway....what happens if we are unable to provide a police clearance from a particular country at all? Any idea on that?

Actually - yes as it happened to me.

Before sending your application, explain that you're in a process of getting the police certificate and show what you have started. Show that you have tried your best. If the certificate can not be obtained right now, but you might have it later on, then explain in the letter that you will keep on trying and will send the certificate once you have it.

if it's a place where you are sure that you will not be able to send the police certificate at all, explain why, and document it, and ask CIC for a waiver.

if you do get the certificate, you can send it in later on to your VO - once the sponsorship part is done, you will have a UCI and a file number so you can send in extra documents to be added to your file, for review when they start assessing it.

Thanks again. I did what you mentioned here, explaining why I am unable to provide them with one with all evidences I have to support my explanation. It's Malaysian police clearance by the way. It is close to impossible to communicate with the officers working at the embassy here (New York). According to the Malaysian foreign ministry's website I do not fulfill the requirement to apply for one but now talking with real people it is a different story. I just hope this does not end up being a big problem in my application.

Send your application with the steps you have for now. Keep on trying and once you get the sponsor approval, and your file is in the VO, send them more documents showing that you have kept on trying, tried different ways etc. They can give a waiver if they think that the applicant has made all reasonable efforts to obtain the police certificate.

If you were in Malaysia for work, get your employer at that time to write a letter stating that to their knowledge, you have not been convicted of any crime. If you've been back to Malaysia after the being there for 6 months, then add that information in your case, and add the copy of the stamp: if Malaysia let you in the country again, it is one more proof that you have not committed a crime in the country (or not been caught at least ).
