Hi there,
I'm a US citizen studying in Canada. I'm currently in the process of renewing my study permit. I sent my application on May 12th, but only applications sent up to May 10th are being processed. My permit expired June 29th. During my process, I had to return to the US for a number of reasons. However, bottom-line is that I left the country when I shouldn't have. I was able to return to Canada once before, during a renewal process, so I did not know I'm not supposed to do this. I originally wanted to return in August a couple of weeks before the school year started, but now I'm afraid I won't get my study permit in time for the beginning of the school year. I'm extremely afraid of being denied entry, being held in customs internment, and being sent back. I guess what I'm asking is, will I be able to return on my implied status? What documents would I need for my return? (I have everything that I sent with my application, except for my status letter, but I can request another one from my university). How do I prepare for being denied re-entry? For the couple of two weeks before school starts, I'm returning early as a visitor (to see my boyfriend), would this allow me back into Canada?
Thank you so much for your help. I'm just a worried mess right now, and I don't know what to do. I don't know if I would have the same luck as last time, and return on an implied status.
