Considering the timeframes for getting a PR card renewed (as well as inability to get a drivers license/health card in some provinces without a valid PR card), what is typically required by companies for new hires as far as documents?

Would it even be possible to start a job with a SIN card/number and years old COPR being the only Canadian documents?

Companies just need a valid SIN. That's it.

Thanks, scylla. That makes sense; my concern comes because when I originally landed, almost 15 years ago, they asked for other stuff. I think a couple places photocopied my COPR, which seemed odd.

Also your vaccination status.

Thats a good point; do you think it would matter if it was a card from a specific hospital in US rather than a local issued card?

Depends which province etc. For example in Ontario:

-Foreign jurisdictions esp eg USA - valid vaccine. But you may need to apply for a QR-code thing, through government - and so possibly an extra step. (Haven't heard how Ontario does this, except in principle) QR codes are for certain places/activities though, not as general requirement.

Employers - up to them mostly what they'd ask for, you'd have to discuss wiht them.
