Returned expired I-94 at border, not sure of cosequence

My I-94 had expired on January 1, 2018. I returned it to the border post ar Rainbow bridge on Feb18th The US officer asked me if I wanted to enter US and I told no, I only want to return the form and drive back to Canada. She filled up a form and allowed me over to join the queue of vehicles returning to Canada from US. I saw that the form that she filled was the refusal to admit form with a handwritten note WD-2 didnt want to come to US. She didnt explain or have me sign anything. I am now worried if this incident is negative for my prospect to reenter US at some point. Please advice

Others can comment as well but no affect at all just sounds like you had an admin refusal same as somebody who flagpoles. You could in fact have mailed the i 94 in to an address specific for that purpose.

Dear friends, this is a picture of the type of form that was handed to me by the US officer; everything same except that it was handwritten in the bottom 'wd-2 didnot want to go to US'. Another update: I checked my i-94 history - it shows that my July 2017 visit to US is closed ( departed US) but there is a new 'arrival' recorded on Feb 18, no i-94 issued Please advise if this is normal or if there is anything I need to be aware of while travelling to US again.
