Hello Everyone,

I applied for citizenship for me and my family members on March 10, 2013. They returned all application on April 17, with a note on my application, that school record for me or any of my dependent is missing, exact wording as follows,

quote
The photocopies of school record for yourself (if applicable) and for your dependent children are missing. See section "Step 1 Gather documents" in the instruction guide. (both covering letters from cic dated April 17 and June 13 have same objection)
unquote

When I applied, I mentioned that I did my CGA in 2010, but not attached its certificate, when They returned our package, I attached the certificate and added a covering letter explaining that I was awarded CGA due to mutual recognition agreement between CGA Canada and ACCA UK. I also explained that I have not attended any school during last 4 years and these are professional examining bodies. so It was a self study and then writing an exam.

Before sending my application, I also called the help line, and they said prefer to send it back with an explanation letter, which I did as explained above.

Now on June 13, they have returned our application again with the same remark.

The photocopies of school record for yourself (if applicable) and for your dependent children are missing. See section "Step 1 Gather documents" in the instruction guide. (both covering letters from cic dated April 17 and June 13 have same objection)

Now, please advise me, should I re-print our applications with new date, signature and amend my application and exclude CGA which I mentioned on Page 3 (work and education history), and resubmit our family applications as a fresh case.

I am not sure, what to do......... few friends are of the view that they keep scanned copies / photocopies, so If I will change the application may lead to more problems.

Please help us, Please help us and guide us.

We will really appreciate your guidance..............

I would try to contact your local MP. They can be very useful in this case.

I don't think the CGA certificate is the right evidence to be providing. This simply shows that you were awarded the CGA certification because you complete ACCA in the UK.

The specific requirement you're trying to fulfill is the following:

- Transcripts or a diploma from a secondary or post-secondary education in English or French, in Canada or abroad;

If there are no transcripts or diploma to provide for your ACCA studies, you should provide your post-secondary transcripts or diploma.

Thank you, but that section is for school record for the 4 year period immediately preceding the date of the application

Well I highly doubt that CIC keeps scanned copies of "incomplete applications" ,however the rejected applications are a different case.If you visit some other threads of this forum and some other forums as well, you will find out that it has been reported by some applicants that CIC returned their applications with some lame excuses(reasons).Usually it has been said that its a new tactic adopted by CIC just to keep the inventory as minimum as possible and not to add new applications in the already piled up backlog.Nonetheless,no one really knows how much truth lies in this assumption.

Coming back to your questions ,I believe you could either call CIC call centre and ask the agent about filing a fresh application .Another option is to e-mail your local office and try to book an appointment with an agent there to meet them physically and discuss the whole situation. However, I dont know how much is the later one feasible for you, considering the distance of your local office and availability of an early appointment.

Good Luck!

Just curious, what is their selection criteria: race, amount of applicants, or just toss of luck?

Honestly I ,myself ,not very big on this idea/assumption.I have just tried to re-produce what has been reported at different forums/threads.In my view,as recently some changes have been introduced to the application process i.e. language evidence, school records ,probably it will take some time for us to comprehend (and may be CIC to communicate) the new requirements .

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks, We are in Scarborough, would you know, how to contact the local office...

As per CIC website ,appointments are scheduled by CIC only if your application has been received and CIC considers it necessary to schedule it .However,in my view ,what you can do is to e-mail CIC at the below address ,discuss your situation and seek their advice ,if necessary request for scheduling of your appointment at your local office.Even if CIC does not grant you an appointment, hopefully they will suggest you some solution to your problem. In that way,you will have something official in black and white, from CIC.Besides, better send the print out of that e-mail with your new application .

Here is the e-mail address where you can contact CIC:

question@cic.gc.ca

Hope that helps!

Thanks newcomer for this precious information.

No problem ! you are very welcome. However,I would highly appreciate if you keep us posted about your application and CIC response as it might help many future applicants.Thanks.

All the best for your application.

Hi Sonia1

You havnt confirmed in your post whether you provided your kids school records (report cards copies) or not with your application ?
If you provided both the ocassions then there is something that is missing and you should call the CIC call center and get some info.
thx

I have a similar case
They just returned my application for the same reason

they said " the photocopies of the school records for yourself (if applicable) and for your dependant children are missing.

I submitted school reports for my son from overseas for 04/2009-08/2011 then "school registration" in a local school in Montreal. No school reports in 2012/2013 simply because when I filled the application in April the school year didn't finish yet and no school reports yet. butI included the registration at the school.

Any advice?

When did you apply?
In your case I would go to the school and explain the situation... but I guess by this time you already have the report cards. Just simply reapply again including the report cards, there's nothing you can do now except reapplying.
