Thanks for the reply! If I was lucky enough to get any type of response similar to yours I would LOVE it! We were requested to send our PCC back in December prior to a cut off date. Sent the following week and then found out it was "lost in the mail". Redid this, sent a second time and have not heard anything. I know to be patient. But, not hearing anything, I would just like to know that they did in fact receive it the 2nd time sent and nothing further needs to be done. I would be so very happy with that. I just dont want to come to find out that they have "lost" this one, as well, and now my file is closed.

I called CIC this morning to ask if there was any info on which office was now handling my application since Buffalo closure. I was told that my file was in transit to Ottawa office and to give it a month and call back then. I am happy with this information and will wait another month, I think, before proceeding with the MP.

I appreciate everyone's replies they have helped very much :)

plain n simple.
I don't agree with that, I work, pay my taxes my wife is also a professional and if she can't find work right away I'll be supporting her so I don't see how someone would become a "burden"

This statement is based on the assumption that immigrants arrive in Canada and spend their time mooching off of social welfare, which is generally not the case. Canada actually needs immigrants in order to sustain the population and have enough people paying taxes to continue funding social and governmental programs.

Absolutely, what a horrible thing to say on an immigration forum, we are going through this process so that government can determine that our spouses wont be a burden, that they will be supported, or will be able to work, the whole system is built so that they do not become burdens on Canada, by welfare, by medical ect.

And besides all that, this is a cash crop for immigration (aka Canada), the amount of fees that need to be paid, the lawyers and consultants that are hired and paying taxes, this is a huge industry certainly not a burden. And in the end they have another tax paying citizen, sounds like a win win to me.

Sure the economy is bad in Canada, but better than most at this point in time. And for a lot of our spouses that are coming from countries that have 50% or more unemployment it makes things look plentiful. These are also people that are willing to work harder at lower paying jobs because they have an opportunity to have a job, we have 1000 of these jobs that the government is trying to figure out how to fill. Canadians are not filling these positions because we are use to things being plentiful and expect alot more, I have seen many Canadians sit on welfare because they do not want to take a low paying or min. wage job even though they are perfectly capable of working, now that is a strain on the system.

So ya maybe its a lame foreign degree or no north american experience, but alot of these jobs dont require experience, when your not a spoiled, pampered Canadian, you tend to be more thankful for what you get and will work harder to achieve more. This is exactly why the government is coming up with all sorts of ideas to fill medial employment, like the new EI regulations, shipping people up north that are welfare so they can work, increasing foriegn workers and changing the protocols (not that I agree with all these steps) but if Canadians would take these jobs maybe we wouldnt have a 9% unemployment rate ! Just to add I am born and raised Canadian and I love my country but we are to dang spoiled !

A. Sponsors are required to fund immigrants if they tap into social welfare.
B. Many immigrants have degrees from the US or Canada. I have a graduate degree from a Canadian institution, which is how I met my spouse in the first place.
C. There are settlement programs in place to help give newcomers Canadian experience. Perhaps there should be more programs.
D. Boomers are retiring and there aren't enough Canadians to pay the necessary amount of taxes to fund them. Canada needs immigrants to stimulate the economy.
E. The concept of Canada would cease to be without a vibrant immigrant community. People want to live in Canada because it has historically been a relatively welcoming nation. Take away immigrants and living in Canada is less desirable.

My husband is AMERICAN. So explain that will you?

If you're so against immigrants, why are you here? You might as well go back to the country that you were born in and help their country if you're so worried about Canada's economy...

You're digging a very shallow hole for yourself by posting this.

is it documented anywhere that MP can enquire about the same file once in two months only to any CIC VO abroad? My MP simply ask me to wait to 2 months before they could do another status check due to conflicting information given to them by Ottawa and what my ND VO had mentioned

That's not true. My MP emailed VO in May and then again today about something different. Make sure you stress that you are a constituent in your MPs riding. Their purpose is to represent you, and they need to live up to that. The VO must reply to an MP within 5 working days. Don't let them tell you otherwise! My MPs office has been awesome.
