Residing in Quebec, how to avoid Quebec immigration for spouse sponsorship.

Just to get the facts if anyone has been in my situation.

My fiancée and I have been together for about 3 years now. She lived in Montreal as a student then we both went overseas (different countries) to work. We maintained the relationship and we decided to get married. I am a Canadian citizen and she will be arriving with Tourist visa for one of her friends wedding. We will get married in Ontario and she will return to her home country respecting all visa laws. Once she returns to her home base, she will apply for immigration with our Ontario marriage certificate.

I live in Quebec and Quebec requires going through Quebec immigration requirements which is separate from Federal immigration. We are both intending to settle down in Ontario once her immigration finalizes. But I will not move to Ontario until everything is sorted out with her PR. (due to work) So basically I will have a QC address. Do we really need to go through Quebec immigration as this will only delay the entire process?

If we get registered in Ontario and provide an address in Ontario, can we skip the Quebec immigration process?

Would appreciate advice from anyone who has been in my shoes before.

You make it sound like a completely different process. It is the same process (ie you will send a TON of documents to immigration Canada) with only a few documents that are replaced by the Quebec equivalent. I am not sure applying through Quebec actually delays the process. It gets sent to the VO in any case. Nobody will actually start processing your application for months which is plenty of time to get your CSQ. Quebec is pretty good at getting it out in 3 weeks. The way I see it, it is a trade-off. Taking a few extra hours to fill out the Quebec forms (plus $264) or going through the legwork of getting an address set up in Ontario (an address where you can readily get mail). Also to add that whether she lands in Quebec or in Ontario, she will have to wait 3 months to get healthcare coverage.

To be crystal clear... if you truly intend to settle in Ontario then you do NOT have to complete or fulfill any of the Quebec specific requirements.

I don't mean to sound rude, but if you can't handle the extra step that Quebec requires for you to Immigrate here, you probably should look into living in a different province instead.

I love Quebec, therefore I'm happy to go through the extra steps and processes that it requires. I'm also more than willing to go through learning french and establishing myself according to their criteria.

If you plan on living in Quebec, you're going to be running into stuff like this all of the time. When it comes to things like taxes, importing, and etc. Quebec makes it more difficult. So unless you think that it's worth it, you should look into setting up your future home in Ontario.

That's exactly what they are doing, as the OP has stated they fully intend to live in Ontario. The applicant in this case has no intention to live in Quebec.

To OP, you will need to state your living history and current address on the PR form. So if you are living in Quebec now, you should really use your Quebec address. Unless you have a permanent address also in Ontario. Though really CIC could tell where you are living by where your health card is set up from.

However as truesmile said, if you intend to do the landing and live in Ontario, then you don't need to go through the extra step for Quebec in PR application. It's best to write a clear letter explaining your intentions.

If you're going to be landing in Ontario I don't believe that the CIC will require you get a CSQ or an Untaking certificate. <3
