I don't know about the above yet. I am just waiting to get mine stamped and let you know what I receive.

If anyone else has already received, please shed some light on it.

As far as I'm aware, they're all multi-entry; I think most are six months or longer, but less certain about that.

Thanks; i was not clear sorry. I said once the PRTD was approved, what was the length of the visa stamp? 6 months? multi entry?

It's up to IRCC. Many get multiple entry but others only single. Sometimes the validity is as short as six months.

It’s really dependent on the profile and also what was said in the application. If it is for H&C more likely to be single entry which makes sense because the goal is to be prepared to return and live in Canada permanently. Like most things with IRCC there is a lot of variability.

I know of course that they can be - but that type of source doesn't tell us what they actually do, IMO.

My question is whether we're seeing any single-entry issued in practice.

I have. There have been at least a few PRTDs under H&C recently that were single entry and of limited duration (6 months). I have no data to back this up but based on threads here it feels like this is much more common when H&C is involved. I don't recall seeing any non H&C that were single entry recently.

Has anyone applied PRTD in India? By any chance, do you know how long would it take for the passport to be stamped since it is submitted with the VFS Global?

Great forum. the link is informative "A PRTD is normally only valid for one single entry. You should apply for a new PR card as soon as you return to Canada." but it seems that other views like @scylla @canuck78 are a little bit varying. I admit it is logical about solo entry but life is complicated for HC applicants and multi entries is important. I still did not apply because of this.

It is also written you should apply PR card once in the country which is logical also but i read other views that it's better to wait until get two years....

A PRTD can either be issues as single entry or multiple entry. IRCC decides and you have no control over this. If you are applying for the PRTD under H&C and don't meet the residency obligation, then it's more likely to be single entry.

Thanks a lot. It's my case, so it will be a problem.

Thank you, it makes sense. I said so because i have a member of my family old so complex to go with one way ticket.

Even if you are able to get approved for PRTD based on H&C you still have to remain compliant with your RO so you should be prepared to spend the majority of 2 years in Canada and try to limit travel.

Sad but true. I thought if they say yes to PRTD, they should say yes to send PR card and then i have five years to manage.
