Hi friends I have a quick question. One of my friend want to apply for Canadian citizenship .he is out of Canada more than six months in last five years.do he need to fill residence outside canada form
Not sure what you imply by out of Canada more than 6 months given the rule to apply for citizenship is that the applicant must show 3 out of the 5 years physical presence in Canada at application time.
He is in Canada from last three years and eligible for citizenship. But he spend more than 6 months outside canada in last 5 years thats why he want to know that he need to fill residence outside canada form while applying Canadian citizenship
Others can comment but According many posts here and the form CIT 0177 it seems to specifically refer to someone being employed as a crown servant or family member outside of the country
The physical presence calculator should account for time in Canada and time out where a crown servant is not involved. The difference where crown servants are involved seems to be that credit can be claimed outside Canada towards citizenship hence the form.
