requirement of maintaining Canada permanent resident status

Hello,

I have a question regarding Canada permanent resident status. If I am able to spend only one year in the first 5 years in Canada and thereby do not satisfy the requirement for permanent resident status (2 out of 5 years), what are the consequences? At that point, could I reapply for the same status again or do I lose it permanently?

You have to re-apply if you qualify.
