Hello

In most of the sites (Re/Max etc..) I find that Credit History is a major requirement. As new immigrants we will not have this. Has anyone faced this? Any help/tips? (I am specifically interested in Toronto)

Credit History is a major requirement only when you apply with major companies. Individual owners usually don't require credit history.

For more info, read one of the many subjects in the Housing section of this forum. The following is one of the many post:

Steaky is right.
If that was the case - many of us [newcomers] would be homeless, won't we?
Relax, it isn't that strict... 60-70% home owners would let-u-in!

If you look in the classified section of the newspaper of the town or city you are moving to, there are plenty of private rental options. You can also look online at kijiji.ca.
