I am currently living in Canada on a multiple-entry visitor visa (TRV), which is about to expire in a couple of months. I would like to renew the visa, and not merely extend it, so that I can exit and re-enter (I am married to a Canadian so I should be exempt from COVID restrictions on visitors).
My understanding is that a visitor record would not be helpful with re-entry.
1. Is there a way to "renew" a visitor visa, as opposed to applying for a new one?
2. If I have to apply for a new one, what are the things I should be aware of given COVID + fact that I would be applying from within Canada (are there significant delays?) + the fact that I have a spousal sponsorship application mailed (would it be weird to apply for a visitor visa if I obviously have an intention to stay as a PR in the future)?
thank you in advance!
