Renew Passport While Application In Progress

We’re having a Common-law sponsorship in progress (Family Class living in Canada). Received AOR in Dec 2025, currently under PGWP until April 2026. My passport expires in Feb 2027. Should I renew my passport before submitting for the OWP? Would renewing the passport delay the process since my passport information changed?

If you don't renew, your OWP will be valid until the validity of your passport and you will have to extend it eventually.

If you do, there might be a delay but not so drastically if any.
