Hello , i'm currently doing my undergrad in canada , but my visa will expire 20 days after I'm done with my undergrad studies , I still want to do masters here , I have 2 questions ,
1- if I renew my passport and the visa is still valid does it get reprinted on the new pass port , or does it stay in the old one and can we use it if it's still on the old passport ?
2- do you think I should just apply for a new study permit after my undergrad is done , or just ask for an extension , is there any big difference between the two ?

Hey,

Once you get a new passport, you need to get a new electronic travel authorization or ETA for your new passport. I cannot say for sure if you need your passport to be re-stamped with your study permit, but eta needs to be linked definitely. ETA is always linked to passport number, and if you need to travel to/from Canada, chances are you will be needing one of those.

After your undergrad, you would be able to extend your study permit only if :-

You have an accepted offer of study lined up.
You are applying 30 days before the expiry of your study permit. However, I would say apply at least 90 days before the expiry of your visa to be on the safe side. Also note that if your passport at that time is expiring very soon, then you will not get an extension more than the validity time of your passport.

Logically, students would be extending their stay, rather than applying for new study permits, what this does is keeps an unbroken time period of study permit.

Hope this helps.

but how can I extend my study permit 90 days before , at that time I would still be doing my undergrad , is it possible to just get a new study permit after it expires.
