we ( me and my wife) are Canadian PR holders and our PR is expiring in Jan 2018 and we stayed only for 1 year in the Canada. Then we moved to the USA on visa for study. We both are doctors from India and completing the Medical residency in Internal Medicine in New York. We want to move back to Canada after the completion of the residency. Our PR cards are expiring in the Jan 2018.

Is there any way that we request the Canadian immigration to give us chance or should we loose the Canadian PR and reapply when done with residency ??
Highly appreciate the answers and help and guidance. What should we the ideal way to proceed?

No - you cannot request an extension of your PR status without meeting the residency obligation. If you apply to renew your PR status without meeting the residency obligation - your PR cards will be refused and your PR status revoked. There is nothing you can do to guarantee you will be able to keep your PR status. Your PR status is at risk since you've failed to meet RO.

Once you complete your residency and are ready to move back to Canada, you can try re-entering Canada by land using a private vehicle. If you are allowed into Canada without being reported at the border for failing to meet RO, then you will need to live in Canada without leaving until you meet the residency obligation - then you'll be able to renew your PR. If, on the other hand, you are reported at the border for failing to meet RO - you will be allowed into Canada but will have to appear at a hearing to argue why you should be allowed to keep your PR status. If this happens - then you should expect that you will lose your PR status and be forced to leave Canada since you have no H&C reasons for failing to meet RO.

My PR expiring in Jan 2018 and I am expecting to graduate in later next year. How practical it is to re-apply and get approved if we apply with the Canadian medical license and job offers in hand. Should I let my PR expire this time and re-apply in end of next year?

You have to officially give up your PR status if you want to reapply from scratch.

You will need to have at least one year of paid full time work experience to qualify. To get points for having a job offer - you not only need to have the job offer but also an approved LMIA from your employer. Note that obtaining a Canadian medical license can be quite an involved process and take years to complete.

I would also wait and see if you both get jobs in Canada. Depending on your specialty it can be quite difficult to get a job as a physician and even more challenging to get 2 jobs in one city.
