Hello All,

I just needed a clarification on the following question:
Question 9: Describe how your relationship developed after your first contact with sponsor and if you and your sponsor dated or went on any outings or trips together.

Does this question require information prior to the wedding only? Or does this go up to present time.

The "Dating" part seems to imply prior to wedding. So I am just a little confused.

Please let me know your thoughts.

It asks for how your relationship developed after your first contact with sponsor, assuming you didn't meet her on the wedding day. In my case i gave a time-line answer, placing greater weight on the first part of the relationship, and less on the wedding etc. I wrote, met my girl (now wife) outside the computer center at our university, bla bla bla. Our first trip was to Kauai, here are some images, bla bla. Then we moved in together, etc etc

So, yes before the wedding, unless you got married immediately when you first met.

I think those are just some pointers, afterall some people don't date e.g. arranged marriages.

What we did was carry on from our first meeting, leading up to our formal engagement, our wedding and to present and then described our future plans.

We did some travelling together, met in-laws, went on dates, planned our wedding and reception, etc. So we included pictures and some receipts as evidence. We also included emails from family and friends that helped corroborate how our relationship developed.

We also used this an opportunity to explain some cultural norms specific to us, our family involvement, why we didn't have a religious ceremony or honeymoon and when we plan to.

We have a lawyer helping us and she tells us it looks very good.

There's really no right or wrong way to do it but you should ensure the officer can follow the progression of your relationship, etc.

Thanks for the response guys. I will write it up till the point of the wedding.
