Registering car in Ontario came from USA.
Could anyone share their experience how they were able to register car in Ontario. There is a provision for swapping US license for Ontario licence .

What are the steps we need to take to swap US plates to Ontario license plates, after we swap drivers license.

Pls advice.

First step is, you need to officially import the car. From your previous posts, you are not even a PR yet so you can expect to pay all regular taxes/duties for the import process. You can't import a car duty-free until you actually land as a PR. Importing will also require you to get any necessary safety upgrades to the car (i.e. running headlights) to pass Canada safety inspection, and will require the car to be completely paid off.

Only once you officially import, then you can register the car and get it licence plates in Ontario, and get Ontario insurance. Until then it will need to stay registered and insured from the USA. Best to let your USA insurance company know the car will be in Canada for an extended time.
