Hi All

I haven't applied for a Canada Police certificate because I wasnt asked for it during my application.

After going through the forums here I realise many have already submitted the police certificate if they have lived more than 6 months in Canada even when they were not asked for it.

I am 3 months down my application process with bg check going on but no updates other than medicals passed.

I would like to know if,
1) I should start processing my RCMP police certificate before hand assuming they would ask anytime soon? Or should I wait until they ask me for one?

2) if I process it after they request, how long might it take and by how many days or months would that delay my application?

Thanks for your advice in advance,

And because IRCC tells you don't need to : )

SIGH. Can't stop 'em. IRCC conducts name-based clearances on ALL applicants, that's why they don't need the RCMP clearance with an application. But sometimes those name checks return a record - then IRCC needs to request the fingerprint-based RCMP clearance, to make sure that is isn't you.

For some applicants - for example, someone is returning to India, they are afraid they might asked for the RCMP clearance after they leave Canada, so they do it before they leave because it is easier. Can't argue that it might be easier and faster in that case.

It would be a waste of money IMHO. Unless you already know that there are 20,000 other people with the same name as you and one or two are known criminals : )

Not long. The RCMP clearance is now electronic, and fast (unless you DO have a record).
