There are around 140 SAH in Canada. I am also an Afghan refuge living in Pakistan. I have contacted almost all the SAH in Canada some fo them have very limited quotas for each year as IRCC give them space for the sponsorship of refuges in certain numbers. very big SAH can get 100-150 seats while small SAHs can get 5-10 seats.Hello everyone,
I am a recognized refugee in the Philippines, where I have been living for the past five years. My situation has recently become extremely difficult, and the support I've received from local authorities is not enough for me to live a sustainable life.
My question is, am I eligible to apply for sponsorship from a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) in Canada? Also, given the current situation, how long can I expect the process to take?
Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I have my brother in Canada who will my pay my expenses but I need a seat with an SAH. I haven't found any seat yet. Some of the SAHs have waiting lists which have reached to about 7-10 years. All the SAH have different requirements but you need someone in Canada who can be a co-sponsor for you. He will take care of your for 1 year once you arrive in Canada. He needs to provide accomodation, Emotional support and many more. The co-sponsor also needs to provide around 20,000 CAD before your sponsorship.
What I recommend to you is don't contact SAHs directly. Contact churches which has helped with refuges previously and you can get this data from google search. Convince the church that you need the sponsorship because you are not safe in the host country. Most of the churches have funds for refuge sponsorships but if they don't have then they will raise funds for you first. They will join events in which they will write your story on a board and will give a donation QR code. Also they will tell their followers to donate for your case.
Once they raised the required funds then they will contact the SAH which they have previously worked with and will ask for a seat.
Then your application will be started and it can take from 1-3 years on average in Pakistan but for philpine you need to check in the IRCC processing times website.
The SAH or the church can't get the money from the refuge directly and it is illegal but they can get from your cousins, relatives, or friends in philpines or anywhere else in the world
Note: The most hard part is the fund raising. Once you have the funds then churches will easily agree with you.
