Same situation. I did my eligibility interview at end of December 2024 in Calgary and on IRCC portal background check not completed.

Submited 14th July 2024, Vancouver , waiting for background check. Apparently it takes at least 1 year nowadays.
You are likely in a queue waiting for your background check it is not taking months for your background check to be completed. You are likely looking at multiple years for your PR application to be processed and most of that time will be spent in a queue without anything being actively fond to your application. If you are part of a pilot program processing may be a bit faster than general processing but there is a small yearly quota for protected people and refugees applying for PR but there are a lot of applicants. This is why applicants will be waiting for years to receive PR.
It takes much longer than a year for most protected people and refugees to receive PR these days. Most the time is spent waiting in a queue and not having the background check processed.
This is refugee page, we are not discussing about background check for PR, this background check is for refugee case. You need to pass background checks before your hearing.
@Sam.zhila Is it normal to take 6-12 months for background check to complete? I submitted by claim in Jan 2025 - Vancouver, still no update.
At least 12 and only if you are super lucky.
If your traveled to multiple countries, if you stayed in another country for more than 6 months, if you had Europe visa it is going to be more and more.
Okay. So I can assume nothing I am going to hear from them this year? I only have one travel history to India, stayed for a week a few months before coming to Canada.
I have travelled around 25 countries but not stayed more than 6 months, the most I stayed in New York around 5 months once
