Hello,

I am refugee applicant in Brazil, my refugee application is still under process. Based on the latest draws, I believe that I do have enough points to qualify for Express Entry and would like to submit an application, could my refugee application create any problems for my express entry application to Canada? Should I declare my stay in Brazil as a refugee applicant or as a temporary work resident since I do have the right to work while my refugee application is being processed? Anything else I should take into consideration? Thank you.

Kind regards,

There's no issue applying for EE from outside of Canada as a refugee / refugee claimant. Just make sure you are 100 percent honest about your status in your application.

Thank you for your response.

Do such applications take usually longer time on average than someone who is not a refugee applicant?

I'm not sure I would say they take longer. However I suppose that's possible.
