Hi All,

I know this has been discussed a number of times, but I also need some guidance..
I received ITA about 10 days back and I am the primary applicant. I am a Dentist by qualification but work in a KPO for a Pharma company. Below are my doubts:
1. I have worked in my current company since the last six years and held 3 positions. Do I need a separate reference letter for all the three positions
2. Apart from my current company, my other work experience is about 3 years and I can't really get reference letters for the same.. should I hence mention in the personal history section rather than Employment section
3. My husband is my dependent, he does have 10 years of work experience but I have not claimed any points for him, except 15 points for his sibling being a Permanent resident. Should I show his work experience about 12 years in employment history or personal history?
Looking forward to the guidance from seasoned and experienced folks..
Thanks in advance!

Hi Shilpa,

I may not be a seasoned folk but can help you to the extent of my own experience and knowledge.

1. It is up to you how you can best present your employment. If you’re getting reference letter from HR or if the jobs are under the same supervisor, better to get them on the same letter. Otherwise you can have separate letters for each position held. Support these with employment contract, transfer or promotion letters, pay slips etc.

2. Move it to personal history. I only added the experience letter for these in the client information section.

3. This will be added to your spouse personal history only. No documents required for his experience.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Shahanastar.. I do have only one letter from my current employer with the positions held during my entire tenure listed and a list of my roles and responsibilities. so it makes sense to list it only once.. Right.?

1. I was exactly in similar situation. You don't need 3 different letters. Reference letter need to state the title and the dates during which you held those positions.

For Example : Title -1 : 01/01/2015 - 10/01/2016
Title -2 : 10/02/2016 - 12/31/2017

2. This thread might help for supporting documentation : https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/not-getting-work-reference-letter.536028/#post-6614936

3. No, you need not submit any documentation for something which haven't claimed points for.

Hi Guys, need some help with the reference letter.

I have around 4-5 years of work experience and have the following questions and hope you can help!

1. Out of the total work experience, I have around 1 year and 10 months with one employer under multiple designations. I don't require this for my desired NOC - primary occupation. Do i need to include this in the EE profile submission? Moreover, the company has shut its business in India and it'll be hard to get an experience letter. I do have all the other official documents but none that can sufficiently substantiate the roles and responsibilities. So I'm thinking it might be best to leave it at the Personal History section post receiving ITA? Is my understanding correct?

2. The remaining work experience of about 4 years is with another employer under multiple designations. I plan to use this, but for the sake of clarity I need help with this.
I have five designations as:

a) Deputy Manager - C - 5-6 months

b) Deputy Manager - BA - 10 months
c) Manager - BA - 2 years
d) Senior Manager - BA - 8 months

e) Senior Manager - O 2 months

My NOC is relevant only to the Business Analysis job duties - My roles and responsibilities for that duration are aligned with the NOC requirements. The first and last one may differ slightly and I don't want to take chances.

Is it okay for me to show only jobs b, c and d only in the Work History section and include the rest including that from point 1 in only the Personal History after receiving ITA? Please correct my understanding. My worry was that since these jobs are with 1 employer only and that too the current one, can 1 show one part of the jobs with 1 employer or have to show all even if they don't match my NOC. My reference letter from employer will anyway show all but the NOC wouldn't apply to a and e similar to b, c and d.

Further, I am planning to get one reference letter, which will include all my designations and roles and responsibilities will be provided for each separately in one letter only along with other required details. Also, the roles and responsibilties for b, c and d where the same, it was only a promotion and so they would be clubbed in the reference letter, is that ok?
