Hi, My first post here..
I am about to apply as a skilled worker / NOC# 0213: Computer and Information Systems Manager.

Here's my question about the Letter of reference and duties:

My previous would not write the 'responsibilities of each position held' in the letter of reference. they said they do not have the job description

My current employer does not know that I am gathering this information and I don't want to ask for a letter of reference that shows my duties. However, I can obtain a letter from HR but this one only shows my title, salary etc.. but without the duties. I can however printout of current job description.

Since I can't get the duties mentioned in my letters of reference, and have no contract (my employer doesn't require a contract) - should I go ahead and apply or not?

Please note, my previous job is not a NOC# 0213 job... my current one is...

I look forward to hearing from someone that knows more than I do about this.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like your previous job not writing down your job description is largely inconsequential unless the job could also be classified as a job that is not skill type 0,A or B.

I think you should go apply because at the worst, you get your application fee back. Remember there is always a little expense.

How many years in IT do you have?

You say yo ucan printout your current job description, is that print out from some official site or one that you wrote?

Thank you for your reply.

yep, my previous job is type A.

History:
I graduated from college
after a few months worker in a major corporation, moved a couple times internally, all type A.
got a job as a project manager 1.5 yrs ago (current position), level 0

The job description I mentioned is from our department structure docos.

At least from what you have written, it sounds doubtful that you are 0213. But i am evaluating without really knowing so you should know best. My reasoning is that, it sounds like you have about 2 years of experience. I doubt that they will consider you as 0213 with two years of experience. Remember manager is not the same as project manager. Anyway, I am not an expert, so don't go by what I am saying. Rather, I am writing this so you could investigate further.

I forgot to mention, 3 yrs at the previous job before moving to the current job. Totaling about 6 yrs in IT

Hi

rupeshhari is right, well if you have 6 years total IT experience, it sounds good.

Can you tell us your NOC codes with total job duration. for 0213 i assume it is yoru current job, if you can not get reference letter then at the time of sending application to local CHC you have to provide strong evidence to prove your point, like a covering letter to explain why can't you provide a reference letter, detailed job description, reference from some co workers if possible and so approciation/work related email prinouts which may show you are working on same job code.

I would request rupeshhari to put some more light

Regards
Pankaj

I agree with examples of evidence that Pankaj wrote. Also you can add salary slip and show somehow that only a management person will earn that much. Another one I had thought of earlier was to print out a job advert from your company for a position similar to yours. These job ads will usually have responsiblities in them.

Remember, the onus is on you to show you qualify for 0213 so if I had to come and ask you to prove to me that you are a manager, what evidence would you show?
