Hi

I requested my manager to give reference letter .She provided only the letter attached below and clearly mentioned in the mail

Please note that
this is the only employment/salary letter we are able to provide, and that
this (and/or your original offer letter) should be sufficient for any
leases, loans, provincial healthcare, or similar requests.

When you asked your manager to write this letter, did you show/give the document check list to her and explain what has to be mentioned in the letter? Is it also possible to talk to an HR manager regarding your PR application so that you might be able to get some assistance from him or her?
A very detailed reference letter following the guideline/check list is a must. If this simple letter is the only letter you can get, can you ask them to give you a letter stating why they can't give all those details required and if all the info is available when an immigration officer contacts the company?
It is so hard to hear that you can't get an appropriate reference letter from your company.

If there is no hope at all of getting the letter with duties/responsibilities from employer, go ahead and apply with client reference letter. There is no guarantee, however there seems to be no other alternative.

Yes, it will be useful - essential even. Provide both the employer and client letters.

In my first application, I had a very good job, but the reference letter was basic, like yours. They rejected my application and in the refusal letter, they mentioned that my letter did not include any duties and responsibilities.

Get a good letter now, it will save you frustration, time and money.

Hi Isabox,

I recently got refused also because my employers reference letter was very basic and did not list my main duties and responsibilities. Have you reapplied again and used a more detailed reference letter? I am in the process of reapplying and have obtained a new reference letter but very nervous about refusal again since this letter lists my job description, education required for this job and all the required information. if it has been accepted do you mind sharing how you had your new reference letter written? Also did your duties match the NOC code exactly or did the key words match? I''m not sure how they compare and don't want to pick the wrong NOC code though my job duties are very close to the NOc code. Thanks!

My company also provides basic info in reference letter. My supervisor whom I used to report, is not in my company now. But he is ready to give me reference letter mentioning job duties and responsibilities. Will that work ? Also can anyone please share format of explanation letter to CIC.
