There was a reception after my marriage. But this reception was on the farm of my dad's friend. I have got his letter with signature stating that my father has booked the farm for wedding reception of me and my wife.

I am wondering if this is enough as my dad's friend doesn't have any receipt book or stamp.

Thanks in advance

Any receipts for food, decor that kind of thing would help...also pictures to prove where and how the party was held.

All these receipt in my native language. So I guess I need translator for that :(

Well, we had a quiet civil ceremony and a gathering with our friends in Brazil. We prepared the foods ourselves, traditional Nigerian dishes from my husband's home country. The only receipts we had were for flowers and grocery items, which I submitted in Portuguese to the Brazil office (I just wrote "food for wedding party", "flowers for wedding party", "wedding decorations" on them in english). I also submitted pictures of us purchasing the different kinds of fish from the fishermen and us preparing the dishes, as it was all part of the fun. I think it is different for each couple, so just tell your story with as much detail as you can :) We held the dinner in our hotel room, so I submitted that receipt as well. Hope that helps?!

I only indicated we had a gathering after our marriage. I didn't have any proof but two photos on a scrapbooking layout in which to provide as proof of such an event with our Canadian family. I have no photos of the event that took place with my family in the states.

Are you newly married?
I think that any genuine proof you can give is helpful.
We were married 13 years ago so I'd think they would be more flexible on if I had proof of such receptions.
Do you have photos of the event?

I am amazed that we walk the same path in life... we had a reception at home after we got married in Las Vegas... I have no pictures of the event because my MIL only takes pictures of her first grandchild - nothing else matters.. we are at 12 years of marriage this year and I am hoping that is enough proof... and bills in our name for 12 years.

I cannot stand the wait.

Lol, it's crazy how parallel they are!

We spent 3 nights shredding and sorting paperwork from the last 12 years (we have 13 in October) not but a few months prior to starting the application- at the time we had no idea we would be, so I only had bills/records going back as far as bills/accounts to 2004. And I had fewer photos from the time prior to that also - crossing fingers for us all!

around 500 people attended my reception and I have tons of photos.

But as I said, the receipts of food and decoration are on loose paper (without stamp). For my convenience, they gave me letter (but that too without stamp) stating that we had booked farm, ordered food and did decoration.

is it ok?

It's OK. This kind of evidence (of your relationship, not official documents) doesn't have to be notarized or stamped. You should translate the receipts and letter into English or French though - the only visa offices I have heard of that don't always require translations are the ones in Brazil.
If you have photos of the event, that would be great. Try to get photos that show all 500 guests - either a shot of the whole crowd, or several photos of you and spouse with large groups.
