Hell Friends,
I recieved my Immigrant visa stamped on my passport. I wanted to understand what I have to be prepared for as part of next steps. I am supposed to arrive in Canada within next nine months.
My questions -
1. do I need to take an appointment at the Immigration office in Canada? If so I plan to land in Toronto, so which office should I go to?
2. Would there be an interview at the Immigration office?
3. In general what is the process that would be involved once I arrive at the office?

Appreciate your inputs

Thanks
Shekhar

Where is your visa office? If the number of months on your visa is 9 months then you have to land within that time frame.
Get your POF ready as they might ask to se it @ the point of entry. When do you intend to travel?

I am planning to visit in March 2011. I have put my preferred location as Toronto.
My visa office is Los Angeles.
Can you please tell me what do you mean by POF?

Congrats Skekhar
Wish you all the very best

shekhar_a2k, You can go in March 2011,make sure you get your PR card before you leave Canada as it is the symbol of your status there!! Congrats!!

Congratulations, under FSW you can land in Toronto even though you mentioned some other landing place. No interview is conducted at the time of landing, the officer at immigration can ask about POF and you should submit list of accompanying and to be followed good to customs.

Hi Shekher,

Congratulations to you for getting Immigration Visa. Could you please mention your time lines.

Thanks

Thank you Fariza - this is a very useful link.
In terms of proof of funds, would bank statements do, or does POF refer the amount I am carrying on myself at the time of landing ?

I had started the process in March 2009, applied at Nova Scotia, then sent following docs to Buffalo
Transferred file to LA office in May 2009
LA office contacted with file receipt in April 2010
Asked for sending Medicals in Aug 2010
Request for sending pp for visa in Sep 2010

Hi explorer,
This is what I am trying to understand - when you say POF, is it referring to the amount accompanying me or would a bank statement showing my proof of funds do? I am currently in the US
