Received an RFV, updated marriage status, and haven't heard back from IRCC in 8 months since adding a dependent to the application

Hello everyone,

Writing on behalf of my husband.

Nov 29 '20: He received an RFV email. He couldn't send his passport because our marriage was on Dec 15 '20 and he had to travel from the USA to India for the same. In his response, he informed IRCC about the change of status.
Dec 8 '20: They asked for a marriage certificate and other documents which he provided.
Jan 9 '21: They asked for my birth certificate, passport details etc which he provided.
Around June '21: Both of us got added as each other's dependents in our respective applications.

FYI: I also got my ITA in Sept '20 and have submitted my biometrics on March 1, '21.

We haven't heard back from IRCC after submitting the documents. Both our CIC status shows that IRCC is processing our background check/making a final decision.

Do we expect him/me to get another RFV email?
It's been 8 months since we had any communication from IRCC.
Should we be concerned?
Is there a chance our paperwork just slips through the cracks (given that he didn't technically respond with our passports within 30 days of receiving his RFV)?

This is normal. Pre-COVID, adding a spouse to your application took 4-6 months. It's unfortunately taking even longer now.
