So I applied for OOPNP and I haven't got an AOR yet. Luckily, I got an ITA after today's draw! yay!

Now what can I do now, obviously, start gathering my documents, but should I call OOPNP and tell them about the ITA (I really don't care about the $1500)?

There is a non-zero probability that they will return your application and refund 1500. :D

So, focus on post ITA work for now and you can inform OOPNP after some time if needed.

Cool. Thanks.

Now, since they pre-population the e-application with information I had in the EE profile, what if I put funds of $40,000 but I can only provide $20,000 (still above min required) is that OK?

Yes. As long as it is above the minimum required, it is fine. You can edit POF figure post ITA if you want to.

Even I applied for OOPNP, but received ITA today.

So if we are not cancelling the OOPNP, can we keep it going as a backup? I mean can we still get nominated if any thing screws up with this ITA?

No. You won't be able to accept the PN while your ITA is already in progress because your profile will be locked. If CIC rejects your application, you'll need to create a fresh profile and get a PN again.

Short answer, no backup possible.

Thanks for you clear answer.

I have not received any AOR from Ontario and draft is not liquidated yet by ontario. Can I call Ontario to not to process my application and tell them that I am cancelling draft?

I appreciate if you can advise.

You can try. But the instructions were pretty clear. There are only 4 things that can happen and in the first 3 options below, zero refund.

1. Application successful

2. Application rejected

3. Application withdrawn

4. Application returned as Incomplete

Since you didnt get ackowledgment email yet Check with your bank if the draft has not been encashed you can ask them to stop payment of that draft then there could be chance to get a refund, other than that i doubt you will get refund.

There is no way to stop payment on a draft. It is as liquid as cash. There are two situations when you can cancel a draft and get your money back.

1. You have the original draft in your hand and you surrender that to the bank.
2. You declare that the draft has gone missing. Note that it is a financial crime to give the draft to someone as payment and then declare it as missing. You can be sued for it.

One of the bank official told that you can infact stop payment so not sure whether it can be done or not.

This entire system will mess up a lot of things.

First thing: Ontario Express entry can only nominate 2700 applicants and once they send PT to an applicant that slot is gone. If someone gets ITA from Express Entry then there is an unused spot in the Ontario Express Entry.

Second thing: I am guessing there will be lot of fake profiles or people with multiple profiles who would have got ITA. Lets keep the ratio as 3:10. So almost 500 spots from the latest ITA will be unused. Or lets say if someone just created a profile just for the sake of doing so, it also takes up the spot.

This is very unfortunate, people like me who have more than 450 points who haven't received neither Express Entry ITA nor Ontario Express Entry PT because a lot of people decided to secure a place in the both immigration system.

I know there is no point to discuss about this in this forum. It will not make any difference but share want to express grief about this poor system.
